A new 2026 study published in Scientific Reports examined traditional kratom users in Southern Thailand to better understand its potential effects on liver, kidney, and blood health. After researchers accounted for major differences such as age, BMI, smoking, and alcohol use, kratom use was not associated with clinically significant liver-test or blood-count abnormalities.
